Description

Lehigh Hanson is seeking a Process Supervisor for our Mason City, Iowa cement plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Process Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of personnel in the daily operations of the process departments according to operating principles, company policies and procedures.

NOTE: Currently this is a B shift position from 2:30pm - 11:30pm and may move to a rotating shift.

Supervises and directs hourly personnel.
Properly administers all plant policies and adheres to conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Ensures production goals are met and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Works with the plant laboratory to meet product specifications.
Ensures compliance with safety and environmental matters.
Diagnoses delays in operations and takes appropriate actions to restore correct operating procedures.
Ensures timely call-out of required personnel. Generates work orders.
Coordinates repair work with maintenance and/or electrical personnel.
Maintains plant records and logs.
Conducts safety and training meetings.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum high school education required, preferably a college degree, in Engineering or Sciences.
A minimum of 5 years cement plant operating experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively and interact as a team member.
Good supervisory, leadership and motivational skills.
Working knowledge and technical understanding of cement manufacturing process and equipment.
Problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic PC skills.
Ability to make timely and critical decisions and deal with multiple tasks.
Kiln Burning experience preferred.
Proficient in use of mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of MSHA regulations and guidelines.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS
Will regularly be exposed to each of the following:

Employee must be able to function in an office environment as well as the company’s industrial environment, including the environmental conditions described below and the physical demands of working/auditing at the plant level (standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, crouching or crawling).
Employee is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
Occasional use of personal protective equipment, including a respirator.

Specific vision abilities required by the position include:

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Will frequently be exposed to plant environment conditions which include:

Wet or humid conditions.
Working near moving mechanical parts.
Working at height, sometimes in precarious places.
Fumes or airborne particles.
Toxic or caustic chemicals.
Outdoor weather conditions.
Extreme cold and extreme heat (non-weather).

Industrial risks similar to those experienced by operations personnel including noise, dust, electrical and machine risks, large equipment and vehicles, and occasional work in enclosed spaces.
