Ambatovy, a Sherritt International Nickel & Cobalt operation in Madagascar, is currently looking for an experienced Control System Specialist. In this role the successful person will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the control system in all plant areas that is provided by a team comprising the Senior Control Engineer, Control System Specialist and Junior Control System Specialists.

In this role the successful person will be responsible for:

Assist in the execution of the day-to-day Control Systems maintenance troubleshooting activities in conjunction with the instrumentation and electrical contractors.
Assist Senior Control Engineer in training National Control System Specialists.
Assist Operations Personnel on the troubleshooting of process issues
The specialist will perform activities related to development and implementation of new control strategies including but not limited to I/O assignment, interlock description and control narratives development, DCS configuration, loop checks, loop tuning, Profibus DP and industrial Ethernet communication configuration.
The specialist will verify DCS graphics, interlocks and control strategies, troubleshooting and implementing modifications as required to ensure the work is completed as per specification and drawings, and that the requirements of engineering queries are incorporated and that the engineering documentation is kept up to date
Ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently in a competent manner and that they adhere to the Permit to Work System and Management of Change System

The Requirements

Minimum Diploma in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Technology or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy industry setting (can be pulp & paper, petrol-chemical, refinery or mineral processing plants).
Experience working with industrial networks such as Profibus DP and Modbus
Strong experience in Siemens PCS7 and Siemens PLC is a must
Fluent in both written and verbal English and French
