DPS Engineering currently have a requirement for an EHS Manager for our Dublin office.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the EHS Manager has technical, quality, managerial and administrative responsibility for the EHS department. The EHS Manager participates directly in projects and supports all EHS aspects of client projects. The EHS Manager plays a key role in managing project deliverables, discipline personnel and work systems. The EHS Discipline Manager will also take on a lead role in some projects and is responsible for the development of the EHS department and its personnel.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities shall cover all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety Management for our key clients in the Life Science sector. Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

General

Develop, plan, coordinate and monitor DPS-EHS programmes to ensure compliance.
Interface with site–based EHS personnel, updating them of new developments ensuring overall alignment with DPS programmes, legislation, obligations and personal development plans.
Maintain knowledge of jurisdictional, company and client EHS policies and procedures.
Develop the EHS content of the internal DPS i-portal system specifically targeting the European and US regions.
Provide direction and guidance to the management team on overall EHS aspects for our offices e.g. Ergonomics, Welfare, Safety Statement, Emergency Response etc.
Provide/Develop technical EHS training aimed at regulatory and procedural compliance.
apply any relevant improvements to the DPS observation and audit programme (from lessons learned on construction projects).
Perform Incident Investigation where required.
Collation of quarterly safety statistics for DPS’s Group Operation.
Co-ordinate Safety Month activities and events across DPS offices and key sites – the month must stay within budget and deliver on the promotion of key safety messages and participation from all levels.

Project Safety

Manage EHS programmes for multiple offices and project locations. In Ireland this will involve executing the roles of PSDP and PSCS in line with current Construction Regulations.
Provide interpretation of EHS compliance programmes to the project team.
Interface with Project Team, Corporate Management, Sub - contractors, Clients and relevant Government agencies e.g. E.Pa and H.S.a.
Ensure site related incidents are investigated satisfactorily and ascertain causes for use in recommending preventative measures - develop EHS procedural revision as necessary.
agree risk assessment approach and provide involvement as necessary in project assessments including HaZOPs, aTEX and design reviews.
Carry out preliminary Seveso assessments (normally for new projects and using forecasted quantities) or undertake review of existing storage quantities and advising on control and mitigation measures on established sites.

Project Environmental

Provide interpretation of environmental planning or regulatory aspects to the project team.
Interface with the relevant Government agencies on related aspects of environmental planning or regulatory aspects such as IPPC or EIS with the E.Pa & Planning authorities
Understand risk assessment methodology for various applications and provide involvement as necessary in assessments including Emission abatement Studies, Baselines assessments including air, Water, Waste & Noise.

Environmental Impact Statement Project Management
Environmental Licensing review or preparation for new project

Business Needs & Leadership

Determine and allocate resource needs in alignment with operations, project management and other disciplines.
Interact closely with operations management and project management in particular to support the execution of projects and the on-going business objectives of the operation.
Management of agreed project schedule and budget deliverables.
Participate in proposal and business development activities as required.
actively support the DPS CPD programme.
Lead by living and promoting DPS Core Values and Codes of Practice.
Flexibility to work in an environment of multiple projects and varying workloads.

Education & experience:

Minimum of third level qualification at degree or Masters level in EHS or relevant discipline area.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in EHS management/consultancy role. Work experience in the Pharmaceutical /Biotechnology industry sector is an advantage.

Essential skills:

Technically competent on all aspects of EHS discipline
Computer literate and familiar with the major Microsoft packages including Word/ Excel/Powerpoint.
Strong ability to clearly articulate EHS concepts to a senior management audience.
Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.

Other:

although the role is primarily office-based some site-based work will be required. Occasional in-country and overseas travel may also be necessary.
It would be of benefit to have worked in a similar working environment to DPS
