We seek an individual that will serve as our International Communications Coordinator who will be responsible for taking actions in the interest of the company.

Main responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the qualified person to this position are divided into the following categories:
- Strategy:
• Ensuring the provision of an overarching communications strategy for the forest clusters which may include Spokesperson support.
• Planning, designing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive communications strategy for the Congo Basin Forest Campaign, Global Campaign and sub-projects when necessary.
• Coordinating the release of strategies, production and sign-off on all communication with relevant NROs.
• Guiding and enabling the forest cluster communications team covering strategy and digital mobilisation to bring about efficiency.
• Monitoring appropriate strategies, output plans as well as advice on tools for the purpose of providing the forest campaign with a clear focus on global and organisational growth.
• Coordinating discussions for decisions and buy-in by international campaign partners as well as in close collaboration with project or subproject leaders.
- Strategic communications:
• Ensuring that both individual and several clusters are involved in all the engagement processes that the various strands of the stories are incorporated into the wider forest narrative.
• Providing editorial support in the publication of any office pushing Congo Basin forest-related material.
• Providing strategic communications advice to the Project Leader and team.
• Ensuring international perspective of all communication as well as making it clear and consistent all over the world.
• Ensuring the international communications information of Greenpeace International Communications and other relevant NROs.
- Internal leadership:
• Coaching and supporting the Congo Basin’s cluster team on communication strategy on communications strategy for the purpose of delivering effective communications.
• Liaising on a regular basis with other NROs globally, clusters, project team leaders and other appropriate departments as the case may be.
• Working with global communications protocols and the available support resources in the interest of the company.
- Relationship building:
• Developing, managing and sustaining relationships with key audience and stakeholders both internally and externally to increase both the Forest Campaigns and the Greenpeace Africa’s Campaigns and organisational visibility through the international media.
• Coordinating discussions for strategic decisions as well as buying in by campaign partners in close collaboration with the project or subproject leaders.
• Organising and managing a community of supporters across the relevant cluster NRO countries bringing about the achievement of goals.
• Ensuring the regular internal communication, buying in and support for the Congo Basin Forest Campaign.
• Building and managing relationships with other NGOs and partners in the EU and US precisely on communication aspects.
• Maintaining a proactive and reactive international media relations.
• Liaising the key communications point of contract for all NROs that are part of the Congo Cluster or part of the outputs plan.
- Budgeting:

• Contributing immensely to the budget forecast as well as following all project expenses with the Project Leader.
• Ensuring an on-time development of materials and budget

Basic qualifications:

- Post graduate qualifications
- A combination of Postgraduate studies and working experience of five years in communications, media studies, journalism, development and management in place of post graduate qualifications.

Basic experience and requirements:

- At least five years’ strong experience in media, development journalism and all aspect of communication and lobbying.
- A sound understanding of international media landscape while that of central Africa is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the forestry sector in Central Africa, as well as a good understanding in design and implementation of project, focused publicity and communications strategies.
- Experience in working with complex teams and dealing with diversity
- Fluency in English is essential and the knowledge of French a significant advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel to anywhere in the world including Congo.
