A Landscape architect/planner is needed by the Urban and Facilities Planning practice of Louis Berger at its location in Washington, DC.

Main responsibilities:

- Contributing to the master plan of the private and public facilities including federal and educational facilities, resiliency planning, transportation planning, urban planning, and landscape planning and design
- Participating in planning projects, stakeholder interviews, existing analysis of conditions using GIS, developing high quality plan graphics, renderings and 3D models using software and hand drawings
- Supporting projects of designs by preparing landscape plans for the ecosystem restoration projects, landscape design, streetscape, and construction drawings for a variety of projects under landscape and architecture

Skills and expertise:

- A minimum of 1 to 4 years’ experience in landscape architecture
- A Master of Landscape Architecture Degree, or a BA with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
- An orientation that is team-based
- Ability to carry out research independently, and having interest in designs that are sustainable and resilient
- A good and practical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and 3D modeling
- US government security clearance eligibility
- Presence in the office, due to the team-based nature of the work and mentoring environment
- Ability to read, understand, summarize, and apply existing planning documents, studies, and regulations
- Ability to create map layers of analysis including GIS, CAD, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Ability to listen and record the input of stakeholders during interviews and charrettes quickly and thoroughly
- Graphic designing to convey the requirements, statistics, and stakeholder input to programs
- Hand Sketching clear concept or bubble diagrams, and also plans for the urban and landscape development
- Digitally rendering plans for the urban and landscape development in Illustrator or any related field, and design perspectives in the
- Ability to design 3D model landscape/urban designs using Sketchup or any similar application, with knowledge of graphic enhancement plug-ins as a plus
- Ability to make construction documents with AutoCAD
- Following the CAD standards while creating Grading plans, layout or dimension plans, and landscape plans, details and notes

Requirements:

- A familiar knowledge of AutoCAD and ESRI or GIS
- A license in Landscape Architecture is not required, as Louis Berger will support and reward the obtaining of licensure
- Experience in Military Installation Master Planning
- Provision of a writing sample that shows a description of a design problem, analysis and recommendations, and also graphic samples showing information synthesis such as infographics, and plans, sections, elevations, analysis graphics, and 3D renderings of final designs
