Description
The company seeks an experienced individual for the role of a Manager – Special Projects to take responsibility for the planning and executing of a variety of field upgrade projects to ensure they are on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the accepted design of the industry, HSE and the standards of the company. The qualified candidate for the job would be responsible for the preparation of forecasts and plans of work, ordering and delivery of equipment and materials organizing, and overseeing the efficient installation of equipment on operating drilling rigs. The candidate would directly work with third party contractors, Operational, Technical Services, and HSE management and rig crews for execution on a wide variety of field projects such as walking system packages, natural gas or bi-fuel installations, well control equipment upgrades, 7500psi circulating system upgrades, third mud pump additions, fourth generator additions, and high-torque top drive retrofits.

The candidate of this role performs under the general direction of the Director, Construction & Special Projects.
Main responsibilities:
- Working in a time sensitive manner, a highly visible role, and regularly traveling whenever required to visit and support the business units, work sites, facilities, shops, and construction yard
- Traveling to remote locations and staying overnight during viable hours such as weekends, holidays, and hours to travel within and outside Houston
- Safely navigating the work sites with occasionally walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions such as day or night, outdoor hot or cold weather, etc. while utilizing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) designated
- Working with an emphasis on personal safety and environmental safety for coworkers and third parties
- Working closely with the other assigned to the process of the rig construction
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and also simultaneously managing multiple tasks and projects to meet challenging deadlines
- A fluent written and verbal communication skill, and the ability to follow and give directions when working with other people
- Ability to develop the processes of the business whenever necessary to improve the organization and efficiency of the company
- Ability to navigate the yard and shop work sites safely and with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during the normal operating conditions such as day or night, outdoor hot or cold weather
- Ability to navigate the drilling rig work sites safely, with regular walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during different weather conditions such as day or night, outdoor hot or cold weather
- Ability to travel regularly as required to visit the sites of work and support the business units. This may require extended travel to remote locations and overnight stays outside the normal office area
- Ability to work on weekends and also be on call after working hours as required
- A sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics, and electrical control system
- A proficient use of Microsoft Office Suites; such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, for the development of presentations, correspondence, reports, and schedules; projects
Other abilities:
- Lifting and carrying 50 pounds independently while walking on surfaces that are uneven
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and occasionally crawling during field and operational work areas visits
- Listening for unusual noises that indicate equipment or machinery problems
- Staying alerted and focused, also during extended work periods which occur occasionally
- Maintaining a spatial orientation and awareness to be able to move around the work environment safely and with many moving objects, including overhead machinery
- Responding to emergency situations immediately
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times designated

Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management in an industry that deals with heavy equipment
- Eligibility to drive the Company vehicle or a personal vehicle for Company purposes, including the ability to meet the requirements of the Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy of the Company
- A Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience of operationally working for a drilling contractor or closely related field
