Description

An experienced Piping supervisor is being sought by First Quantum for their Copper Processing Plant at Cobre Project which is located in Panama. The roster for this job is in an 8/2 format, and the candidate must possess the skills mentioned below. The role is to supervise and coordinate the installation of all piping works at the Process Plants according to P and ID’s, isometric and GA drawings while complying with the relevant specifications of the pipe

Main responsibilities:

- Listing per line by the stipulated specifications
- Ensuring maximum productivity
- Planning and organizing piping work packages daily and weekly
- Inspecting works in progress to ensure that the specifications and standards are conformed to by the artistry, and piping schedules are adhered to
- Capturing and reporting progress whenever required by the Project Controls Manager
- Optimizing the utilization of plant and resource
- Identifying any potential or actual slippages, and discussing it with the Area Manager
- Controlling and monitoring the hour utilization of each man for all activities related to piping
- Daily, weekly, and monthly workforce distribution planning
- Coordinating and liaising with the Managers to ensure the smooth workflow at all work fronts
- Providing the Area Manger backup in managing and handling the pipe work packages, and providing technical advice whenever required
- Ensuring all the work is carried out safely, and befitting the Company’s high standards
- Ensuring the safety management programs and safety objectives are followed strictly, and the required actions are taken against defaulters to prevent recurrence of such defaults
- Ensuring all work is carried out to the quality required in the best manner possible, and within the best engineering practices guidelines of the industry
- Verifying that adequate effort is being put in areas such as productivity, safety, and quality
- Stopping processes that do not meet the requirements specified, and ensuring that the carried out rework is acceptable
- Motivating, directing, aligning, and guiding the team to get the best performance, monitor the performance, and provide feedback
- Taking ownership of the individual project’s success and failure, and resorting to the necessary corrective measures to avoid future recurrence
- Carrying out other responsibilities as assigned by the section head

Requirements:

- Skill in planning and execution
- A proven leadership quality, and a proficient skill in communication
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience in piping supervision in the Mining, Oil and Gas industry or any related field
- Fluency in English language communication, orally or written
- Familiarity with the applicable safe working practices, quality, and standards
- Ability to manage or control a multi-national workforce
- Ability to assist in ensuring a project is properly closed out, including transmittal of final documentation to operations.
