This position is based in our regional shared services office, located in the Lao capital of Vientiane. Operating as PanAust Asia, our shared services team provides strategic and transactional support to our Lao operations and projects across a range of functions including Government and External Affairs, Finance, IT and Human Resources.
This is an excellent opportunity for a contracts and sourcing professional to take a leading role in sourcing, establishing and assisting with the implementation of major contracts to achieve superior commercial outcomes for Phu Bia Mining. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Superintendent, you will play a key role in developing strategies, preparing market engagement documents, negotiating and establishing commercial agreements with a range of local and international suppliers and service providers.Your outstanding leadership and coaching skills will be critical to the ongoing development and performance of the relatively inexperienced, but very keen and willing, local Lao workforce. Your key responsibilities will include:
Develop a spend category strategy for the sourcing of goods and services, with a spend category value in excess of $25m, in support of operational and corporate needs
Prepare requests for proposal and manage market engagement exercises
Evaluate and negotiate outcomes to the technical and commercial advantage of PBM
Prepare recommendations to award
Finalise contract terms and prepare contract documents
Assist in the implementation of agreements with end users and drive the supplier relationship management process for relevant contracts. Provide commercial advice on key supply contracts and appropriate financial analysis on pricing volatility
Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers
To be successful in this role, you will require:
A Bachelor Degree qualification in a relevant discipline; supply chain, commercial, engineering, business or law
Extensive experience in an equivalent role within the mining, resources or other relevant industries
Advanced negotiation skills
Outstanding analytical and dispute resolution skills
Excellent communication skills with a customer service focus
Strong skills in Microsoft Office. ERP (SAP) experience well regarded
