Function Description

The main objective of the Trader Chemicals is to grow a portfolio of profitable customers & transactions through the creation of strong relationships with trustworthy customers and suppliers within Central and/or South America and/or Caribbean Islands.

As Trader you take responsibility to set and pursue the (trading) market development strategy for your countries and actively participate in setting the regional strategy for your product portfolio. You report to the Regional Manager. Frequent travel to the region and occasional global travel will be needed.

Profile
• You have minimum 5 years experience in the chemical trading or export business.
• Knowledge of chemical products is essential.
• You understand the complexities of the export supply chain and have the ability to unravel them.
• You are willing to travel to emerging economies (South- and Central-America and the Caribbean), build relationships and deal with various types of people & cultures.
• You are able to work in a commercial matrix organization.
• You have a pragmatic, no nonsense mentality.
• You have a very good knowledge of English and Spanish.
• You have a network in the business and a good understanding of the market: products, applications, suppliers, customers, competitors.
• You have commercial prospecting and negotiation skills and experience .
• You are a enthusiastic and goal oriented person who likes to take initiative with a large degree of autonomy.
• A commercial feeling with the region (Latin America and Caribbean Islands) is a serious plus.
• Your education is a commercial or logistic oriented one (Commercial Engineer, Economic or Commercial Sciences, Sales Management, Forwarding & Logistics)
